Here is a word from the Business School:
"We are excited to announce that Robert Socolow will be coming to CBS on
Monday 17th October to talk to the Green Business Club!
In August 2004 Robert Socolow and Steve Pacala at Princeton published a
paper in Science about a portfolio of technologies which could mitigate
climate change. Its core messages are as valid today as seven years ago,
but they have not led to action. Robert Socolow is coming to discuss how
public resistance can be partially explained by shortcomings in the way
advocates of forceful action have presented their case. Addressing these
shortcomings might put the world back on the potential course identified
and will be a significant opportunity for our generation of students.
It is also worth noting that as part of the National Academy for
Engineering, Robert Socolow is on the Grand Challenges for Engineering
team with the likes of Larry Page and Ray Kurzweil identifying the
greatest engineering challenges and opportunities for the upcoming
century.
The talk will take place at 5.45 in Warren 311. For those who want to
make the most of the opportunity to meet other Green Business Club
members we will head for drinks afterwards at 1020 on Amsterdam Ave.
